Experience

Hi, my name is Allanah, and I am an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who works with children and adolescents (from the ages of four up to nineteen years old) and their families in Sussex. I have worked therapeutically in primary and secondary schools, charity settings including Place2Be and the YMCA. Currently, I am working as a preparatory counsellor and as a child and adolescent therapist in a charity offering support to all ages, genders and backgrounds who have had an unwanted sexual experience.

For the past 30 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, young people, and their families in charities, school, and early years settings in Sussex and London. At the heart of my work has always been to listen, support, and offer guidance for the whole family with the child or young person being at the centre. I have a great interest and passion for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. I left my teaching career and embarked on a three-year Masters degree to specialise in being able to work therapeutically with children and adolescents in particular with complex trauma.

I believe that once a child and young person have a safe place and a trusting therapeutic relationship there is a great possibility to untangle and manage life’s challenges and find their strengths and resources within bringing endless possibilities for growth and understanding.

I hold a Masters degree from Roehampton University in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy specialising in working with children and adolescents. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to their ethical framework. I have an Enhanced DBS.
